Two metanephrine test descriptions are available on this web site. Please select one:

  • Plasma Free Metanephrines: This test is used to help diagnose or rule out a pheochromocytoma (tumor of the adrenal gland) or a rare extra-adrenal tumor called a paraganglioma and is performed on a blood sample.
  • Urine Metanephrines: This test also helps in the diagnosis or ruling out of a pheochromocytoma or paraganglioma and is performed on a 24-hour urine sample.
